Time flies past all too quickly and before you know it has been 2 or 3 years since you checked the costs of a number of items that soon add up in the IT Budget.

Here is a list of areas you may want to open the file on again and check just how much you are paying, and maybe even benchmark the costs.

So long as they are working and no one moans about the speed any more, these connections are often left as they are and a review of both speed and cost is seldom considered.

This area of IT infrastructure is constantly changing again in both terms of speed and cost. You should also consider looking at the resilience your connection(s) offer presently. Most businesses are very dependent upon a connection to the web and do not spend enough time making sure the connection is robust enough.

Support charges

The cost and appropriateness of the support of your system whether of individual applications or of the IT system itself may have not been looked at for some time. This area can represent a significant annual cost and is often left untouched especially when all is well.

Maintenance renewals

Renewals of this nature are different to software support charges are relate to the on-going development of software and in the case of Malware software updates to the virus definition database files.

Whilst you may be tied into the use of some software within the business and therefore renewal costs just have to be suffered but there could be opportunities to save costs by changing other software such anti-virus.
