Solution of the Month - A lesson to be learned

Business challenge

As with all businesses it is becoming increasingly apparent that companies are trying to keep their IT equipment for longer.  With cost pressures and financial constraints it seems that IT equipment is one of those items that suffer in any recession. For example a local engineering company where experiencing issues with slowness and performance issues on their server.  Yellowspring were called in to advise and help resolve the issues but found that the problem was down to the age of the server.  After producing a quote for a replacement server which was not actioned the company subsequently suffered a server failure resulting in loss of email and access to the order processing software.

Solution

This created a real business issue and they needed a solution that was quick to get them back up and running.  A technician attended site promptly and identified that the issue was down to a hardware fault.  The Yellowspring workshop team researched available and alternative spares from old stock which were quickly delivered to site and fitted into the server allowing the business to be back online within 6 hours from the call being logged.

Result

The server was up and running within a timely manner allowing the business to continue to work with shortest possible down time.  Although Yellowspring were able to save the day on this occasion, it further highlighted to the customer the need to plan for a replacement server which has now been deployed.
